Google announced the opening of registration for the first edition of the “Google Business Startup Accelerator” program in the Middle East and North Africa. To allow those interested in all countries of the region to apply with it.

Google announced the same program last October as part of its regional business development program in the region, “Go with Google”. The program will provide a three-month business acceleration incubator targeting technology startups in the initial financing (Seed) and initial investment (Series A) stages in the region.

The company says that the program is scheduled to start in January 2021 within a virtual platform and will include 10 to 15 startups from the Middle East and North Africa region.

Requirements to participate in the “Google Accelerator for Business Startup” program

The founders of the selected startups will have to identify the most important challenges facing them, and then coordinate with relevant experts from Google and the sector to solve these challenges. The program will also include providing support and training services to founders of startups on various technical and professional challenges, in addition to the opportunity to participate in workshops on machine learning techniques, product design, user experience design and leadership skills.

Google requires that the startup be working in the technology field, with headquarters in the Middle East and North Africa region, and receiving initial funding.

Google will take into account the problem that the startup is trying to solve and how it works to provide a valuable experience for users and its contribution to addressing a real challenge at the level of the city, country, or region as a whole. It will also consider whether the startup aims to employ machine learning and artificial intelligence technology in its products, services, and operations to help solve current challenges and grow in the long term.

“The MENA region is home to many local business owners who have proven their determination to help address the challenges that arose during the pandemic and solve them using advanced technology,” Salim Obaid, Regional Developer Relations Officer in the Middle East and North Africa region told Google. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce the opening of applications to participate in the first edition of the “Google Accelerator for Startups” in the region, and we look forward to working with the next generation of innovators. “

It is noteworthy that the door for registration will continue until the last day of the year 31 December 2020, and then in January of the following year, the selected companies will be determined.
